A Flag for the People #2

This house stands a hundred yards, or so, from ours in a working class neighborhood. The Confederate flag once stood for the confederacy formed by the states that left the union during the civil war.

Today it stands for hate.

I've had folks try to explain to me that this flag stands for their southern heritage, but to many of the people that I know, love and work with it symbolizes a continued prejudice against their race or religion.

We've worked too long and too hard to put this behind us.

Ironically this flag that once stood for rebelling against U.S. Federal policy now flies side by side with the U.S. flag. These modern "rebels" stand lock-step with misguided U.S. policy here and abroad.

I apologize for the photo quality. It was shot through the windshield of my car during a very brief stop in the rain. These are not folks that would like having their house photographed. They've openly threatened to harm people in the street.
