Surfboats: waiting for action

North Cottesloe Surf Club has a number of Surf Boats waituing to be used as and when required.

These days they are used mainly for training and in Surf Carnivals. Each boat will take 6 to 8 oarsmen and a lifesaver on the steering oar .

These North Cottesloe boats shown boats are on trailers and are ready to be taken to nearby beaches if required. If they are required locally they are usually rolled onto the beach on inflatable rubber rollers.

These days you are just as likely to see a crew of young girls handling the oars as you will a crew of bronzed Aussie Lifesavers.
