The Manger Gets Lost in the Marketplace
The cinnamon fragrance of Christmas fills our nostrils as this holiday swirls about. The sugary taste of this exquisite season drips from our lips as we savor every sweet morsel. Like no other holiday, Christmas lubricates our memories while opening the door to emotions often kept captive in the hustle of daily rituals. It gives us something, actually Someone, Who brings a gift uniquely carved to fit each individual heart. During these rough times of recession, wars, and natural disasters, if we give our permission, Christmas will gentle us. In a world pock-marked with turbulence and chaos, we could ask for and receive nothing better than the comfort Christ offers.
Beautifully decorated trees are everywhere; they beckon our attention, but more than the trees, we realize this holiday is about the One who came and died upon a tree to take away sin. This holiday more than any other arrives with the invitation, "Come!" God invites each of us to kneel at the manger, to accept Jesus as Lord, to have our names written in the Book of Life, and to live forever with Him. This Christmas we could all Come, Adore HIM.
Merry Christmas from Southern California!
