Mary

We deciced to go walking at Durham this morning to blow away the cobwebs, but first, as is usual practice we had coffee at the County Hotel.
The Sunderland Football team were just leaving with their new manager, but it must have been for a team talk, because they were back again before we were finished. All were very quiet and orderly, filing in to the dining room.
We walked along the River Wear, where it was sheltered, as the wind was fierce, and came out by the Cathedral. Over the road was this small church, St Mary-le-Bow which was ruined and rebuilt in the 17th century. This statue of Mary was in the church grounds. Locked up to prevent people from damaging her. She is completely made of wood ,as is the interior of the church.
It was nice to get out and about after over eating yesterday.
