Busy Boxing Day

It's our custom on Boxing Day to drive about 80 miles south to the Seattle-Bellevue area to visit our adult children and grandchildren. We arrived at my daughter M's apartment about 11:30am, where we enjoyed an excellent lunch of just-made soup and numerous varieties of dessert with her and her brother W, including their homemade mince pies and fruitcake.

After exchanging gifts with M and W -- nearly all involving food and drink in some way -- and lots of good conversation, we headed for Bellevue to see Phil's daughter S, and daughter E, her husband D, and their two children, Z and B. (Sounds like alphabet soup!) There was more good food and drink there as well, from quiche and sausage rolls to multiple varieties of cookies, all homemade.

Thoughtfully selected gifts were shared -- and yes, there were more than a handful of them involving food and drink in some way -- but the highlight for grandson B was the child's tool kit that Phil found in one of his favorite local stores here, Grizzly Industrial. It took two grown men and a boy to put together the pre-cut and pre-drilled tool caddy, but it was well worth it for the smiles.

Phil has another photo from this event, well worth seeing!

It was a lovely, relaxing family day; we are very grateful for our children and grandchildren and the joy they bring us.
