we have a new cat flap

But we no longer have a cat.We did have a cat, once, and we had a cat flap fitted into the new front door when we had the house double glazed.
We then got a German Shepherd puppy and her favourite place became the hallway where she would stick her head out the cat flap to survey the world.
The puppy grew to a 35 kg dog but her favourite place still was the hallway but she could only stick her nose out the cat flap and sniff the world and frighten the bejeezus out of unsuspecting passersby, the postman and the odd cat (as by now out cat had gone to cat heaven) by barking at them. I remember vividly a group of Jehovas Witness` scattering in shock as they went to ring the bell but got greeted by 35 kg of dog trying to get through the cat flap, they never did return!!
This morning however I was woken to the sound of Alex and Sarah our neighbours, filling the recycling box with the aftermath of last nights party. This also roused the dog who took her place by the door with her nose poking out of the catflap and grumbling at being woken up. The grumbling turned to growls as Sarahs` dog Brassy (yes folks that is the poor animals name) wandered round the close and had the temerity to approach our front door at which point 35kg of irate German Shepherd launched herself at the door with ferocious barking and much clattering. I heard what sounded like the door being caved in and ran downstairs to be greeted by aforementioned dog trotting through to the living room with the catflap round her neck looking pretty damned pleased with herself at seeing off the interloper.
I just stood and surveyed the rest of the cat flap on the hall floor and a great hole in the door through which a chill wind was whistling........hence the new cat flap, cheaper than a new door and we may in the future get another cat!!
