Colour Thee Not
9.30 p.m. A House Somewhere In Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
The photograph might like quite good, but I don't think I could cope with it for a full ninety minutes. Taken from the colourised copy of the 1951 Alistair Sim version of A Christmas Carol. In the same way that It's A Wonderful Life looks beautiful in monochrome with those dimly lit shrouded in snow, with a colouring book style splash of technicolour really takes away the power of the film. Poor old Michael Horden's Jacob Marley's comes across as a camp old theatrical instead of a tortured spectre.
Whatever the temptation never give in to colouring in. Look how lovely it originally looked.
