As often happens, I was on my way out to the shed to do something else when my eye was caught by the sunshine hitting these..

Rather than eating all that cold beef as sandwiches, I have decided to make a couple of cottage pies. One for this evening when mate R comes round, one for the freezer so C can share some of the joy.
It seems a shame to use the very best beef in a cottage pie, but when I have done it before the result is on a different level, especially if the mash is made with double cream..
