Small house, St Basil's Cathedral, Moscow
Arrived at Sheremetyavo airport, Moscow at 5.20 am for a single day in the city. I took a taxi to the apartment of Neil Buckley, an old friend and colleague, then Moscow bureau chief for the Financial Times. Had breakfast with Neil, chatted about old times and got the low down on the metro system, then visited the Pushkin museum and art gallery and the Kremlin. This little house was secreted behind St Basil's Cathedral, possibly a caretaker's house.
Just time for a cup of tea with Neil in his office before catching a 6.45 pm flight to Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
