King's Own Scottish Borderers Memorial
There are loads of statues around Edinburgh many of which I will probably blip at some point.
This one is on the North Bridge and is in remembrance of the Officers, NCO's and Men who fell between 1878 and 1902. The statue was unveiled in October 1906 about 10 years after the bridge was built. It was created by William Birnie Rhind who created a number of Edinburgh's monuments. The inscription reads;
"IN MEMORY OF OFFICERS, NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND MEN WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY DURING THE FOLLOWING CAMPAIGNS; AFGHANISTAN 1878 -1880 EGYPT 1889 CHIN LUSHAI 1889 -1890 CHITRAL 1895 TIRAH 1897 -1898 SOUTH AFRICA 1900 - 1902"
