After months of lobbying, protesting and petitioning, the wooden extension on the west pier at Whitby has finally reopened to the public.

The argument was over - you guessed it - Health and Safety. So to make a point, Scarborough Borough Council have built a temporary bridge from the main pier to the extension, constructed in a 'well you asked for it, so here it is' sort of way. A scaffolding eyesore with all its edges wrapped in foam rubber and duct tape. So I made my point by walking right to the end in this morning's early light, just to say I'd been.
