Damp Feet

Got a phone call from my sister this morning - Dad was not doing too well.

He had been up in the early hours not well and when she went round at 8am he couldn't stand and had problems with his speach. She was going to phone te National Health 24 and speak to them.

I was not in a possition to help much as I was going to my future son-in-laws stag day (which started in the mid afternoon) and was having to take the car with passengers to get to the go-karting.

However, I did stop off on the way and found Dad very lucid and having no problems walking..........it turned out to be antibiotics he was on had made him very dehydrated.

5 glasses of water and a couple of probiotic drinks and he was as right as rain......brilliant and a weight off my mind.

So it was off to the karting centre in East Lothian.

It was all meant to start at 3pm but the staff were running late ....... a hour and a half late and by the time it all kiced off it was bucketing with rain. I thought that it was going to be the indoor track they were using.

It wasn't. It was the longer outdoor one. I wasn't prepared for rain.

I was not karting (my back couldn't put up with that I am afraid) but I was going to be taking pictures for them all.

In the boot of the car I was able to find a golf brolly - but I was wearing old trainers which leak ............... very cold and wet feet ensued.

Have you ever tried to take pictures with an SLR fitted with a zoom lens whilst trying to hold a large umbrella in a wind?

Results are not great but they are usable.

Because things were running so late it meant that the minibuses collecting us later had to be put back and we were late in arriving at the comedy club where we were to eat (drink and get merry). The show had started and they had had to serve up our meals. Luckily we were able to get in and the food was still at a temperature that was edible.

The comics were very good - and not in the slightest bit 'politically corect' which made it even better.

About midnight (after more than a few sherberts) the younsters headed off to drinking dens anew. The old farts amoungst us headed unsteadily home.
