A good while back, Beth Wester Ross and her teacher colleagues used to sit and try to decipher some of the pupils more creative spellings.

If I remember right, the biology teacher had the kids do a report on rural or hedgerow wildlife.

One child had made mention of a creature 'ejog'...

She was stumped as to the meaning of such a term.

It took the staffroom brainstorming team to get 'Hedgehog' from this!
