SUDDENLY THE LAST DAY
of the year starts. The clouds in the sky are there but high in the air. I greet the sun before she disappears.
I am glad we are here in the Weserupland and not in Holland during the loud and hysterical fireworks at 12.05 p.m there. As a child I dreaded already the 'voetzoekers' en 'gillende keukenmeiden' (the dutch names of small fireworks) that were fired many days before the end of the year. To walk to school was a nightmare.
In Kamerik were we lived for 28 years it was worse, the outburst at 12.00 I found terrible and at some time even old cars were set to fire. The fire-brigade nearby to watch. Our cats and later Moby our dog were terrified too. During the night several times it started again with heavy 1000-fold bangs. Hardly sleeping then. Hurray that's now a long time ago.
Have a great last day, dear blipfriends.
My haiku:
Shrivel away fear
Let the new days shine bright
Heron and swan delight
And the proverb:
'T'is never too late for delight.
