Butts Water Meadow

This area was once a large water meadow teaming with all sorts of wildlife.
Greene King (our local brewery) one day proposed that they wanted to build an access road right through the middle of the ancient meadow.

This kicked off an outrage with all the local people and nature conservation groups.
Various protesters set up camp in the meadows from Dec 97 to Mar 98, but were soon forcibly ejected by local cops and bailiffs.

Greene king now have their access road but due to constant flooding it is often closed!!
