Hermitage tree

The omens weren't good today. Firstly, I'd leant the tripod against the wall next to the bed last night and, to cut a long story short, it fell over and tipped over a cup of tea all over me and the bed, as well as my film camera and several books.

Then I thought I'd go out and put the tripod to some good use. Jumped into the car to head for the hills and it started to rain. Got a couple of shots of some sheep in front of the hills and gave up.

Noticed that it looked brighter in Edinburgh and headed off there. Planned some shots of Edinburgh from Arthur's Seat only for the rain to start here too.

So headed home and stopped off at the Hermitage of Braid on the way. I remembered there was a small waterfall there so thought that might be interesting. It was, except there was so much junk at the foot of the fall that it was not particularly attractive. It was also VERY muddy.

Spotted this tree and thought a nice longish exposure with the ND 4 filter might make the water interesting. Except for the continuous stream of young children being taken walks by their Morningside parents who insisted that they simply HAD to include the tree in their walk and that little Adam/Emily/Oliver/Sharon (only joking about the last) just HAD to climb the tree.

Anyway, I gave up eventually and this is the best of a dodgy lot.

Here's to more success next year!

Just changed the blip. You can now see one of the helpful children in the bottom right hand corner.
