I will not be going out for Hogmanay - I used to love it when I was young but now it always feels like a waste of time and energy and money.
I always dreaded this night when I ran a pub.
I like Howard Hughes' description of New Year's Eve; he referred to it as 'Amateur Night'.
Loads of people with no tolerance for alcohol suddenly getting really drunk, made for a busy night of cleaning up sick and breaking up fights - I don't miss it one bit
