Trekking the W day 2 - Los Quernos - fire starts

Awoke to the news that a fire had started in the park near the Refugio Gray area. This was a region we walked directly through yesterday.

Our plan was to walk up the French Valley to Camp Britannico and then on to the Refugio Los Quernos for 2 nights.

It was a spectacular panoramic view of peaks in the French Valley and the fire largely seemed to be away from us. There were some amazing cloud formations including this beauty.

By the time we reached Refugio Los Quernos at 7pm in the evening it appeared part of the park was already being evacuated in the Paine Grande area because of the fire. Many people were sleeping on the floor and in the dining area of Los Quernos.

A sleepless night on top of a 3 decker bunk lay ahead.
