Bridge over La Broye

Late start (I wonder why?) and then a long walk. The mountains were in cloud so it didn't seem worth driving for an hour or more to not get a view and we instead walked along the river Broye, where there are - judging by the material evidence - a large family of beavers. Didn't see them, unfortunately, but at least the wind/rain/sleet had stopped so the 10km walk was pleasant enough.

New Year is an arbitrary date the whole significance of which is tied to ancient superstitions which no one seriously believes any more. So why don't those who opt-out of religious festivals on grounds of so-called 'rationalism' also opt-out of this one? What did Richard Dawkins do last night?
