A pub with personal memories---The White Hart

Shortly after we settled in this village ( West Stockwith ) in 1977 , Ironic's sister visited us from New Zealand.
We went to the White Hart for a lunchtime drink , our first visit, and were given a fantastic reception by the landlord.
He had been badly burnt in the war when his plane was shot down, and was treated by a New Zealand born Plastic Surgeon in a hospital in the south of England .
Although his burns were still obvious he could not have been more grateful to the surgeon whose name was Archibald McIndoe, later to be Knighted and we were given such a welcome by the Landlord who retired just a few months later.
Happy Days and Happy New Year to anyone who reads this.
