Life's Little Moments

Look into my eyes...

...you are feeling sleepy...you will have a great year ... and when you hear me squeak, you will wake up feeling refreshed...

The first day of the new year was filled with sunshine, lots of birds, and the sound of cursing and muttering coming from our garage where the hubs set out to put a new hinge on the truck door. A project, he assured me with great confidence this morning, that would be simple and take only a few minutes. That was 4 hours ago. The hubs, who I love above all things, has a tendency to underestimate the time and complexity of a project. Remind me tell you sometime about the rock wall that we built. Started in June with the assurance that it would take a "couple of weeks, max." Yea, well, that project ended a day before Thanksgiving. You get my drift.

The day was not a loss, however, as the birds were quite accommodating. I had several visits from the little Carolina Wren who wouldn't really sit still long enough for a decent portrait. Then, the titmice decided to embrace the window feeder right in front of the cats' noses. A black capped chickadee stayed still long enough for a portrait in the late afternoon light, as did another of the Terrific Tufted Titmice! And, towards the end of the afternoon, Extreme Seymour showed up on the deck to have a nosh and demanded to be blipped. How could I refuse?

I am happy to report that I actually managed to stay up until midnight last night and watch the ball drop in Times Square. We had dinner with our neighbors with a nice bottle of Prosecco to toast in the new year. Then, immediately following the dropping of the ball, we sashayed home and went straight to bed!

I hope for a great year for all of us!
