Cheltenham

One of the best views there is, to start 2012. Not the best of weather - overcast and a bit damp by the end

A day trip from Leeds to Cheltenham is not to be undertaken lightly (particularly on New Years Day when there are no buses). But definitely worth it.

Highlights include:
- a long awaited victory by Calgary Bay, a horse who I had confidently predicted would run well without winning, just as he had on the other occasions I'd seen him run. I couldn't have been more pleased if I'd backed him. Honestly.
- What would have been a nice little 9/1 winner if it hadn't been run out in a photo finish;
- a good second in the bumper, chosen on the grounds of his name....
And thus, I confidently predict, it will continue into 2012...
