I ended up taking video of the whole of the London NYE fireworks so I don't actually have a picture of the fireworks. Not that a point and shoot not on a tripod would have done it any justice; it was probably the best fireworks I've ever seen in my life! And the experience of being there is so different to seeing it on TV or a large screen. It really was a great experience and I'm glad I made the effort to be there for it!
