The Age Of The Train

Many years ago there was a TV ad in the UK with the strap-line. 'This is the age of the train'. It is does strike me now just how aged some of the trains are that I travel on.

I wonder if this is one of the oldest types. It's certainly the only 'slam-door' stock I see these days.

If there are any train experts out there maybe they can tell me how old this really is.

As an addendum it would appear that these trains were build from about 1960 making this possibly 51 years old .... wow Link to Wikipedia article
