New Year
Andy and I put up some new bookcases in the spare bedroom. Ahhh storage. We have too much stuff and not enough (well, practically no) storage. Feels good to get the piles of books somewhere nice looking. That took most of the day, then off to a new year's get together at a friend's parents place.
We had Jim's 'New Year's Burritos', they were quite tasty. Then Andy and Jesse decided to try Jim's 30 year old Scotch (read: has-been-open-for-30-years-Scotch). Some pretty good facial expressions came out of that experience. It was a pretty mellow and rather nice New Year's.
I opted for this photo over the Scotch facial expressions because I liked the reflection (or rather refraction) in the bottom of the glass. Purely by accident I might add. But I think i might try this effect on purpose later on.
I just had my first real foray into RAW formatting. After much annoyance, I remembered that at the beginning of this I had noticed my camera took both RAW and jpeg formats, so i un-deleted the jpegs and was much happier. A happy accident that I had set the wrong setting on my camera and took both. I must not have the settings correct because the vibrant red of this shot was a dull gray-ish pink no matter which settings I tried to change.
