La chapelle de l?Immaculée Conception

Today we headed up to pastures new on the way to La Norma. On the way back you pass this Chapel, which we have seen many times before, right next to the main D1006 road just a few miles north of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.

It is regarded as a "Symbole et fierté de Pontamafrey" and was built between 1855 and 1859 on the rock, with a subscription.."she has seen at his feet the fury of the Arc, the mud of the creek in the price, the German troops and allies, the great works of gear ... it's still there!" It is sandwiched between the main A43 Peage between Lyon-Turin and the river on one side and the TGV rail railtrack heading up the valley to Italy and the D1006!!

La Norma was really quite a nice place to ski. Tasteful and relatively quiet. It advertises itself as the "La Station Cosy" (the cosy resort).
Ticket prices are very reasonable and much of the lower skiing is amongst the trees. It is certainly somewhere we would return to and is about 40 minute drive from our base in the Maurienne Valley.

The day was abandoned after the clouds descended and made visibility very difficult.

A very excellent day all in all!!
