Morocco Trip day 9 - Back on the bus
Another early morning bungling into a bus and off to a new destination.
First we had a toilet stop in a medium sized rural town, Mahfood nipped off and bought a paper (in Arabic) and read the headline that there had been a massacre by Americans in Iraq of civilians and then the paranoia kicked in. Maybe they think we are Americans, they dont look happy so we sat in the inside seats and got the Chinese, Iranians and Syrians to sit on the window seats. We then realised that S and C had got off the bus. S being as white as a sheet and quite tall and C the most ginger person alive with long long bright red hair. They got back from the cafe and were followed by a gentleman who offered Dimitiris and I 25 camels for C and money as he was in love with her hair! As much as I wanted a camel we had to say no.
We then headed down lush green valleys then back into the Atlas Mountains to the 'Main' route to the other side. The bus weaved its way up and through the hills and it got a bit scary on the very narrow road. Some of the girls got so scared they were laying on the aisle floor and by the top I was sitting on the inside seat. Then all of a sudden there was not just one steep side, there was two as we driving along a pinnicle of the top of a hill. The view was immense! 5 mins later we stopped and this was the view.
We then went down the range and ended up on the edge of the Sahara desert in a very nice hotel with a pool. Dip, food, a few drinks then off to bed.
