Today would have been my grandad's 84th birthday.

He was the funniest man I've ever met; not your typical grandparent.

Reading his eulogy in front of hundreds of people was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. It wasn't until the day of his funeral that I truly felt the magnitude of his death and the effect it had on the family.

His 51 years and million plus miles on the road for Rowntree Mackintosh made him the longest serving driver in Europe. Commitment and true grit personified.

I'm on the wagon throughout January but may fall off it just once to drink his health.
