a characteristic of many Thais.

Example:
This door wasn't here before I left for traveling a week ago. If it was there, it would have looked out over the roof of the floor below, but there would be no place to walk, no flat surface. Over the past week, the roof was removed, a reinforced wall skeleton was put up, floor put down, and the roof moved up another floor. Soon there will be walls, windows and furniture, I'm sure. And in another week or two, I would expect someone to be living in this new room.

Ingenuity. We needed more living spaces, so we took the space we had and made more. When space in limited, think up, not out.
