Catmere End Cloud Base
Taxi duty today as I took them all to the Airport. The weather was not kind; strong wind in Cambridgeshire and heavy rain in Essex. Enough rain to flood right across the road in some places. The Motorway was a bath of spray so on the return I took the back route. At Catmere End, I met the edge of the storm and returned to Cambridge in bright sunshine.
"In general, a lapse rate is the negative of the rate of temperature change with altitude change, thus:
gamma = -{dT}/{dz}
where gamma is the adiabatic lapse rate given in units of temperature divided by units of altitude, T = temperature, and z = altitude."
