Quite some time ago I heard about a special candle which was for 'Remembering'. I thought it was a lovely thing but it was the remembering that was important and not necessarily the candle.

On New Year's Eve I light a candle and remember friends and family who are no longer with us. Maybe a tear but usually with a smile as it's time to hold on to the memories that make us smile and let the sad ones float gently away.

To live in hearts we leave behind
