And the Waltz goes on......
Life is amazing isn't it?
Everyday you learn something, experience something you have not experienced before, see something new, hear something new, but rarely does something take your breath away and completely floor you.
I was lent a DVD of Andre Rieu recently, it was called 'And the Waltz goes on' I have seen him play before, but one performance was extremely moving and inspiring.
Andre spoke of his office in New York and the numerous daily e-mails and calls he gets from composers wanting him to listen or even play their music. One particular day, he was told of a World famous actor that had composed a waltz when he was 19 years old. It was his wish for over 40 years that Andre performed the Waltz with his orchestra. Andre said he nearly fainted when he was told the actors name!
The 2 met, recorded the waltz and it was performed live for the first time to an audience at the Vrijthof Square concert, Maastricht late in 2011.
Who is this actor?................Sir Anthony Hopkins!!
Watch and see how Sir Hopkins feels every note, is so proud to have Andre and his orchestra realise his boyhood dream and see how his wife is moved to tears at the performance.
This is a shorter version, but I hope you feel the power and emotion of this magnificent Waltz.
Why a sunset photo? 'Corky' and I sat on the roof with a Bombay Sapphire and orange, whilst this was playing, it doesn't get much better than that......
