Trawler Fleet

This is part of our local Trawler Fleet. They will head out again late this afternoon just before dusk and will have a fresh supply of beautiful local prawns, bugs and fish ready early in the morning for all our local fish shops and the local Co-op. A lot of the catch goes direct to Sydney for some of the best restaurants in Australia but we get to have it straight off the boats - can't get much fresher than that.
They will need to be catching plenty because since Boxing Day the town has been absolutely packed with holiday makers. I really like the atmosphere at holiday time but I just wish all the visitors would be more considerate of the enviroment. A lot of plastic is left lying on or near the beaches and river - so damaging to the marine life! I have picked up plastic bags along the river near us rather than leave them there - not that I enjoy picking up other peoople's rubbish. That's my little whinge for the day:)
The predicted 35C for today hasn't eventuated thank goodness - apparently a low is pushing hot winds from the Centre across to Queensland and northern NSW. I'm guessing it might hit here tomorrow.

EDIT: I realized I should have been more specific about the trawlers catching "bugs"- see the web address below for a description - they are called "Moreton Bay Bugs" in Queensland, Balmain Bugs in Sydney and "Yamba Bugs" here on the North coast(NSW) and are extremely tasty.
