Spring?

I'm no expert, but isn't it a bit early for this kind of thing to be popping up in one's garden on 5th January? Got a bit of a soaking walking the dog this morning as you can tell from the raindrops. However, thought I'd blip this before either the squirrels or the frost get at it.
