Think York, think Betty's - - -

Thinking it was going to be a dreary day of weather we headed off to York for the day. A trip there never disappoints and the first stop was the City Art Gallery. I was so pleased to be in time for an exhibition of William Etty's work which closes at the end of the month. He was a York born artist operating in the first half of the 19th century. I liked his work very much, some of it very controversial in it's time. Also went to say hello to one of my favourite permanent pictures in the gallery, a lovely little Lowry, Clifford's Tower.
Cold and blustery but the sky was clearing by the minute. Couldn't resist a quick look in on a couple of sales, rewarded by one bargain purchase! Lunch in the Spurriergate church which I blipped pre-Christmas. (Highly recommended if you are in York). By this time the sky was blue and it seemed a pity not to be out walking Bracken who was staying with the neighbours, no doubt having a great time too.
When I got back, typical, one of those infuriating little cards from the Royal Mail. Clearly my compact camera has arrived and I was out. I'll pick it up tomorrow and then go through the pain barrier of learning how to use it. I could be in touch Ros!
