through the looking glass?
The builders arrived today.
Scaffolders, alarm engineer, electrician, joiner, plasterer.
It was like Piccadilly Circus.
Scaffolders - ready for the solar panels
alarm engineer - £66 to reprogramme the unit, since the previous owner didn't leave the code. it would have been £45 for an annual service!!!
Electrician - to talk about resiting switches. However the new kitchen light (which he fitted a few weeks ago) has started lowering itself to head height. It has a spring mechanism so it can be raised and lowered, but it decided to lower more than required. Anyway, he decided it was easy to fix; dropped a light bulb, tightened up the mechanism, and then broke it altogether :( he has taken it for homework!!
Joiner - made a new doorway between the 2 front bedrooms, one will be my bedroom, the other my study, clothes room.
knocked a hole under the attic stairs for the cistern of the new en-suite to fit.
Started knocking the wall down in the attic, to make DDs new study.
And GH came round for a cuppa,
And Ben helped with the fairy lights.
And Paul looked at the garden fence with me... the neighbours have put a new fence up, at least 18 inches onto my land, I'm going to try the 'you seem to have made a mistake there' approach and see what happens.
