But blowy overnight

So, this morning we followed the usual pattern. Alarm, up, breakfast (where we commented on the strength of the wind overnight), feed chickens, leave for work. But we only got half way up the drive when we came to a shuddering halt. Well, we were only driving at about 4mph, but we certainly couldn't go any further as our old apple tree had been blown down in the wind. It was straddling the drive - no way past.

We tried to push and pull it out of the way, but it might as well have been a house for all the difference we made. So, back to the garage to pick up the saw and loppers, and we spent half an hour chopping branches off until we could drive past safely. We then abandoned it and continued our journey to work.

Needless to say Mrs BH missed her train and I was so late to work there wasn't anywhere to park!
