This path runs from Myreside Road past the Watson's sports gounds, high above a deep railway cutting of the Edinburgh suburban line. Passenger services on this line were withdrawn in September 1962, in order to allow enormous long queues of traffic to form on Morningside Road and other routes into Edinburgh. It is still heavily used by trains (mostly freight) as it avoids the busy routes through Waverley and Haymarket.

There have been many proposals to re-open it for passengers in the intervening years, all of which came to nought.

See, I didn't mention the trams. Oh.

btw, I'll be afk for a bit, hopefully back on line with decent wifi from our holiday apartment soon. Have a nice weekend all :)

ooh, one of my favourites from last winter -------------------------------------------->
