witch hazel
It was beautiful day today, mild and sweet, and we spent a productive day in the garden for the first time in so long.
The signs of spring are everywhere, bulbs pushing up through the undergrowth and buds of shrubs and small trees swelling, some new tiny leaves opening already.
One of the first plants in the year to flower is witchhazel, this red flowering one an unnamed seedling given to me many years ago and one of my favourites.
