Murmurings

With no definite plans for the day, and having got the few chores of the day out of the way, we hopped in the car and thought we'd meander down Dumfries way. Just for the hell of it really. A vague notion that we might go to Gretna to see the Starlings murmurating. Which is basically what happened (via a look by WWT Caerlaverock, and a first spot of some Barnacle Geese (we didn't go to into the reserve itself, wouldn't have been time to then get back for the starlings) and Caerlaverock Castle - which is triangular ergo cool).

It didn't look like they were going to show at the service station they normally hang about at. But we found ourselves on a farm track right under them, and chatting to a farmer that was able to tell me exactly where and how they were about to move - which made looking out for photos easier. He declared them mucky buggers, his cowshed inches deep in droppings as they come in to steal the feed. But all the same he seemed to like them, and was genuinely happy to chat about them.

Remarkable sight. Remarkable watching Buzzards hunting at the edge of the moving cloud, three or four of them. So glad we took the spin down.
