Turkish Delight
Crocus adanensis
First described from plants found in Adana Province, Southern Turkey where it grows in open woodland and scrub, hence the specific name. This is an easily grown crocus, in many ways unremarkable. Usually pale lilac, often with a silvery wash on the outer petals, the petals quite narrow and the flower having a white band around the yellow marks in the throat (very pale yellow in this individual.)
Turkey is the centre of distribution for the genus Crocus, many rare and delightful gems are found there.
