Close Shave
Just a play spat: that's how Basil and Polly let off steam. I took them for a good long walk at lunchtime, which included several spats, and they should be quiet for the rest of the day now.
On the drive back I noticed two roe deer out of the corner of my eye, running in the woods to the left of me alongside the road. A split second later one of them was right in front of my car. It all happened very quickly but, fortunately, I do have lightening reflexes so I was able to brake and just miss the deer by about an inch and keep going on my side of the road. I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw his friend run across the road behind me, in front of another car; he also made it across unscathed. Phew.
