On To The Next Hole

We went to watch the professional golfers this weekend at a golf course that was built in an old strip pit from the glory coal mining days. The designer of the course, Pete Dye, had this original mine portal retained and used as a cart path from one green to the next tee. The reflecting bands at the back of the shot mark the point where the "mine" turns and the rest of it is blocked off; but the walls seen here are still the original coal. The best part about it was the fact that the temperature inside was 30 degrees (F) cooler than the outside air. A quite welcome relief!
