Heritage
The Bradford Industrial Museum is one of the places that probably few people outside of the city know about, but is a treasure for those that visit.
If you imagine a hybrid of Beamish and the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, you'll come close to the range of heritage on display. Housed in Moorside Mills, there is one floor of working steam engines and a good collection of old vehicles, and one floor which is full of looms and other machines of the wool age. Outside of the main building is a row of millworkers cottages that have been done up in different time periods, and the mill-owner's house.
The one disappointment is that the working horses that were housed here for many years, have been victims of council cuts. Thankfully, not literally "axed", they are now settling into a new life in Norfolk, but the horse-drawn tram rides at the museum seem to have been re-consigned to history.
There is also a gallery space, which currently houses an excellent Steampunk exhibition.
