The Iron Lady
We went to see The Iron Lady last night.
It's a film that will tug at many heartstrings. A woman mourning the loss of her husband and trying to come to terms with throwing out his clothes. She is slowly succumbing to Alzheimer's and is becoming confused whilst on occasions showing glimpses of her former self.
These universal issues are made all the more poignant when they are draped around the towering personality of former Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, an outstanding performance by Merryl Streep - you could have heard a pin drop in the cinema. Flashbacks to the key moments in her life and career include the relationship with her husband Denis played brilliantly by Jim Broadbent.
Thoroughly recommend.
