Starry Eyed Surprise

Nature versus Nurture

I feel completely washed out today after our day out in London yesterday.

I had an eye test booked for 11.15 this morning but woke up at 10am. It just wasn't going to happen so I called and rescheduled it for another day.

I did make it into Yeovil later on in the day to do some 'school shopping' for a Nurture Group that I'm starting this week.

I bought a big bucket of play dough, wooden spoons and materials for puppets, cross stitch samplers and other crafty things. I couldn't however find any board games in the discount/bargain shops. I'm looking for games like snakes and ladders, ludo, hungry hippos and such like. I'll need to widen my search for these.

I spent the evening doing Boxall profiles for the students that will be joining the Nurture Group. It's times like this I wonder why people have kids and do they full understand what it will involve to care for and nurture that child into a full functioning, balanced adult?

Anyway, this is one of the intervention techniques that will be used to help these students gain self confidence and awareness and develop into their full potential.

It's not a guarantee though, and maybe it's the parents and carers who need the Nurture group most of all.
