Manchester Airport
One good thing about my job (and at the moment, probably the only one) is that I get out of the office from time to time.
In this case it's to fly to Vienna for a meeting at our corporate head office.
This seems like fun at first, but when you've done it a few times, it ain't.
Itinerary:
Taxi to the airport, wait 90minutes.
Sit in a cramped cigar-tube for two and a half hours.
Wait in baggage reclaim (?)
Taxi to hotel in (boring) south-side of Vienna
Watch Liverpool win on the telly at the hotel bar.
Early to bed, trawl the telly channels for free porn.
Go to sleep late
Up early, hotel breakfast.
Cross the road to the office.
Meeting all day. Lunch provided indoors.
Hang around 'til mid-evening,
Taxi to airport
Wait two and a half hours at airport.
Sit in same cramped cigar tube.
Arrive Manchester in the wee small hours of Friday morning (RAINING).
Wait at passport control behind huge crocodile of passengers just come in from Alicante, and another from Madrid - all looking brown/red, tired and irritable.
Go outside to find the car, pay £52 short-stay parking fee (can't be bothered to park in the long-stay).
Go to bed at 2:30am
Up early the same day.......
Sometimes I'd rather stay in the office.
