Return of the King
Today was about only one thing. The return of Thierry Henry. My favourite ever Arsenal player, a proper living legend. The term legend is branded around far to often these days but this man deserves it. Having left the club 5 years ago he is the clubs all time leading goalscorer.
This year there was a statue of him unveiled outside the ground and we assumed he would just see out his career in the States. However as it's their off season he's come back on a 6 week loan.
FA Cup third round tonight, home to Leeds. He came on after about 70 minutes with the game having been a bit dismal and 0-0 at that point. It was certainly emotional seeing him come on, and understandably he got a huge ovation from the crowd. Then 10 minutes and 5 touches later, up he pops with the winning goal, ghosting in behind the back 4, he calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner in true Henry style.
A magic magic moment and one I will never forget.
I did have a proper blip lined up for today but it's not very often in life that a fairytale unfolds.
Thierry Henry. What a man.
