Moonrise, Hernandez's New Texaco

I was driving home and saw the BIG moon coming up over the river. Thinking of Stacey's devastatingly beautiful landscape posts recently, I immediately wheeled the Big Mechanical Wonder in a 180 across the median into the opposite-facing double lane. My impulse was to capture some luscious Florida evening landscape equal to her sunrises - partly out of appreciation for nature's beauty, partly out of good natured artful competition and partly out of bad natured artless jealousy. Pulled into the parking lot of the gas station. Frantically opened the car door, ripped the camera from its semper fi position in the back seat and dashed out onto the bridge. Fortunately the bridge has a concrete barrier to keep the aimless and sometimes intoxicated Florida-wintering elders (OPPPPSSSS - did I say that?) from creating an artificial reef of Buicks in the estuary. Now the barrier was a prop for the camera which kept me from enduring a hand-held, unproductively shaky 30 sec exposure made even more unproductive and shaky by the eventually reef-bound Buicks whizzing by at 60 mph within a lens length of my ass. (That is a literary trope, folks! No, I have never had the opportunity or inclination to insert a lens in my rectum to corroborate this speculation. Hmmmm - I wonder if Canon makes one? After all the sphincter does act like a diaphragm shutter and... Well that is REALLY going too far for most of you...) Fear-laden minutes became psychological hours which turtled by as I made 20 LONG exposures so that at least one would be worthy. Anyway, here is the result of much anxious camera-work induced by the perceived need to post a Blip (a rare moment of Blip-encouraged discipline as followers of my posts will know)...

Really yummy big - if I do say so...
