Bright spark

This little girl on the bus impressed me by reading out all the horoscopes from the Metro, she must have been about seven and wanted to practice her skills. She then initiated a word game with her granny, and then it was granny's go to choose a word. It started with 's' ended in 'e' and had five letters, after a ponder the little girl said, 'is it shite?' amid much silent tittering from her granny. I so wanted to find out the word before they got off the bus, so the little girl gave up, and the answer was 'shop'..... little girl was outraged, along with myself!
